The Gala Water Archive aims to be a centre for excellence for local history in the Gala Water valley collecting, recording and preserving artefacts and records of local historical significance for the enjoyment, education and information of all members of the local community and visitors as well as advancing knowledge and understanding of the rich heritage of the Gala Valley and its place within wider Scottish history.
The GWA aims to advance the heritage and culture of the local area by providing a heritage experience for the community and visitors as well as serving as a local heritage visitor attraction and community archive for the recording, restoration and promotion of the rich history of the Gala Water Valley.
The GWA holds an Archive of photographs, newspaper cuttings and other memorabilia as well as hosting a Heritage Centre. The Archive and Heritage Centre are held in Stow Town Hall in the centre of Stow, Scottish Borders. This facility is open between 10am and 4pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
